Congratulations to our very own Danny Charbonneau, as well as his closest family members and friends, for their participation in the 4th annual Spirit Wheel Walk Run (SWWR) for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. The Charbonneaus completed their 10k walk along the Hamilton Beach Boardwalk on June 11th to help raise awareness and funds for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, a congenital defect in which the spinal column doesn't properly close. Although some who have the condition can walk, most are paralyzed from the waist down.
Spirit Wheel Walk Run Across Ontario
Every June, The Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of Ontario encourages communities across the province to organize their own SWWR events. The events are held annually in hopes of raising public awareness for the conditions of SB&H and helps raise much needed funds in support of programs, care, research and advocacy. Last year, 18 communities across Ontario held their own SWWR events during Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Awareness Month, raising over $35,000 for the cause.
